If you’re someone who genuinely needs your specialized fonts actively available and working normally for real design or creative work meaning fully disabling font access isn’t really practical for your day-to-day use a reasonable middle-ground habit is just keeping a separate, more locked-down browser profile specifically for general browsing, with your heavier creative software’s fonts and your regular work browser kept apart from each other. It’s a bit of extra friction, sure, switching between profiles depending on what you’re doing, but it means your identifying font-heavy browsing session isn’t the same one you’re using to just read the news or check email, which meaningfully limits how much cross-site tracking value that specific signal actually has when it’s compartmentalized like that.
I think the honest, slightly humbling takeaway from this whole font fingerprinting thing, at least for me, was realizing just how many quiet, individually harmless technical choices add up into something identifying, almost without your noticing any single one of them mattering on its own.
